Qui possiamo osservare il ricco e decorato frontespizio di questa edizione del Libro del Cortegiano, un’opera di Baldassarre Castiglione, scritta fra il 1513 e il 1524. Osservando meglio questa raffigurazione possiamo notare nella parte superiore del disegno, sull’architrave, una scritta con il titolo dell’opera e il suo autore scritto subito sotto. Fra le due colonne scanalate poi possiamo vedere la raffigurazione di un paesaggio agricolo, con montagne e campi. Al di sotto troviamo questa sorta di balconata che funge da decorazione e ulteriormente al di sotto troviamo una scritta che rappresenta l’editore di questa copia dell’opera. Here we can observe the rich and decorated frontispiece of this edition of the Book of the Cortegiano, a work by Baldassarre Castiglione, written between 1513 and 1524. If we look more closely at this representation, we can see in the upper part of the drawing, on the architrave, an inscription with the title of the work and its author written immediately below. Between the two fluted columns we can then see the representation of an agricultural landscape, with mountains and fields. below we find this sort of balcony that acts as a decoration and below we find an inscription representing the publisher of this copy of the work. Questa è una facciata di introduzione al primo libro, l’opera infatti è formata da quattro parti distinte, che però trattano tutte diverse sfaccettature dello stesso argomento, ovvero quello di formare a pieno un uomo di corte. Il primo libro tratta più o meno l’argomento dell’opera in generale, ovvero quello delle caratteristiche che un uomo di corte galante deve possedere. L’opera come possiamo vedere è dedicata a Alfonso Ariosto, amico dell’autore, conosciuto alla corte sforzesca.
This is a facade of introduction to the first book, the work in fact is made up of four distinct parts, which however all deal with different facets of the same topic, namely that of fully forming a man of the court. The first book deals more or less with the subject of the work in general, that is, that of the characteristics that a gallant court man must possess. As we can see, the work is dedicated to Alfonso Ariosto, a friend of the author, known at the Sforza court.
Questa è una facciata di introduzione invece al quarto libro; come possiamo notare vi è sempre la dedica all’amico Alfonso Ariosto. Il quarto libro a differenza del primo tratta un argomento differente, ovvero una trattazione dell’amore, sui tipi di desiderio che possono manifestarsi, sensuale, razionale, intellettuale, e quale sia più adatto al cortigiano.
This is a facade instead of introduction to the fourth book; as we can see there is always the dedication to his friend Alfonso Ariosto. The fourth book, unlike the first, deals with a different topic, namely a treatment of love, on the types of desire that can manifest themselves, sensual, rational, intellectual, and which one is more suitable for the courtier.
