L’Adigetto è un fiume del Veneto che nasce a Badia Polesine staccandosi dall’Adige. Un tempo era un canale navigabile usato anche per l’irrigazione, per questo motivo è ancora oggi chiamato naviglio Adigetto. Attraversa il comune di Badia Polesine, passando per il centro storico e proseguendo per la frazione di Salvaterra; poi passa per Lendinara, Villanova del Ghebbo, Costa di Rovigo, Rovigo, segnando per un breve tratto il confine tra Villadose e Ceregnano. Attraversa poi il centro di Villadose, per poi sfociare nel Canalbianco in località Voltascirocco, nei pressi di Loreo ma in comune di Adria.
L’Adigetto, come il suo nome tende a ricordare, è strettamente connesso all’evoluzione dell’Adige, tanto che in epoche passate caratterizzate da continue rotte ne era diventato per un periodo il ramo principale.
L’importanza ricoperta dall’Adigetto dal punto di vista economico, specie dopo i lavori di bonifica e risistemazione dell’alveo effettuati in epoca moderna, era fondamentale per gli scambi commerciali tra i territori bagnati dalle sue rive. Alternativa vantaggiosa alle strade in terra battuta, veniva utilizzato da imbarcazioni commerciali che, grazie alla rete di canali navigabili che attraversava (ed attraversa) il Polesine riusciva a collegare i maggiori centri polesani con i capoluoghi in terraferma e con i porti marittimi.
Inoltre è possibile notare come la facciata del Cinema Eden dava proprio su questo fiume.
The Adigetto is a river in the Veneto that originates in Badia Polesine, detaching itself from the Adige. It was once a navigable canal also used for irrigation, which is why it is still called the Adigetto canal today. It crosses the municipality of Badia Polesine, passing through the historic center and continuing through the hamlet of Salvaterra; then it passes through Lendinara, Villanova del Ghebbo, Costa di Rovigo, Rovigo, marking for a short stretch the border between Villadose and Ceregnano. It then crosses the center of Villadose, and then flows into the Canalbianco in Voltascirocco, near Loreo but in the municipality of Adria. The Adigetto, as its name tends to recall, is closely connected to the evolution of the Adige, so much so that in past eras characterized by continuous routes it had become its main branch for a period. The importance covered by the Adigetto from an economic point of view, especially after the reclamation and reorganization of the riverbed carried out in modern times, was fundamental for the commercial exchanges between the territories bathed by its banks. An advantageous alternative to dirt roads, it was used by commercial boats which, thanks to the network of navigable canals that crossed (and crosses) the Polesine, were able to connect the major Polesine centers with the mainland capitals and with sea ports. It is also possible to notice how the facade of the Eden Cinema overlooked this river.
