These photos show a Croatian coin from 1995, “1 kuna”. The kuna is the official currency of Croatia. One euro is worth about 7.56 kunas. It has no relationship with other currencies called “crown”: the word kuna means “marten” in Croatian, in fact in the Middle Ages the fur of this animal was widely used in the trade. The kuna was introduced in 1994, at a rate of 1000: 1, after the transition period that followed Croatian independence in the early 1990s, when the Yugoslav dinar was replaced with a Croatian dinar. It was also adopted for some time by the Croats of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
